Germany has a long, rich history of motorsport racing which started in the 1920s right up until the Sachsenring circuit was built in the mid-1990s, since the area had become too densely populated for the traditional street races.
The surprising success of the Sachsenring circuit led to it becoming the site of the international MotoGP in 1998, and since then tickets have always sold out months in advance.
The circuit is the second-shortest lap in the entre calendar, but is notorious for having some of the tightest track corners. Riders are compelled to take the race slow, and have to face a short, steep hillside for the back straight. With the myriad of challenges that face the riders at the Sachsenring circuit, it is no wonder that the track is also used as a driver training centre.
The German leg of the MotoGP is definitely a frustrating test for the riders, who cannot make the most of the powerful bikes they are riding and instead, must use careful tactics to advance in the race. However, this can only increase the tension and excitement in the atmosphere making it an unmissable experience for MotoGP fans.
