The second of two rounds of the American MotoGP is held in the Speedway suburb of Indianapolis. The circuit was built in 1909, making it one of the oldest tracks used for the MotoGP, and has one of the largest spectator capacities in the world.
The Motor Speedway circuit is 2.5 miles long, and the shape of the track is virtually unchanged from the time that it was first built. It consists of four quarter-mile turns, two long straights and two short straights, giving the track an almost rectangular shape. The traditional layout of the track is contrasted with the fact that the circuit actually runs anti-clockwise, and has 8 right hand corners as well as 8 left-hand corners, providing the riders with several overtaking opportunities, and ensuring that you are kept on the edge of your seats.
